Thursday Thunder enters final week

Nine weeks of intense competition, side-by-side battles and spectacular finishes have all come down to this: Week 10.

With three division tied and another separated by just three points, this Thursday's double features will decide more than just race winners they will decide Atlanta Motor Speedway's 2003 Track Champions. The Fayette County drivers will be right in the middle of the excitement as competition concludes this week.

Alan Baker of Fayetteville did not compete in week eight in the Pace Car Fuel Centers Outlaws division. Alan earned a season-best finish of third in week five and is currently sixth in points.

Jonathan Chandler, 13, of Fayetteville finished third in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division in week eight and remains third in points, just 40 points behind leader Ryan Bowman. Jonathan earned a season-best finish of second in week three and has earned six top-5 finishes this season.

Matt Cox, 13, of Fayetteville finished 14th in the Legends Chargers division in week eight and remains tenth in points. Matt earned a season-best finish of fifth place in weeks five and six and has an average finish of 11th place.

Michael Herrington, 34, of Tyrone did not compete in week eight, remaining 13th in the Semi-Pro points standings. Michael earned a best finish of seventh place in week four and has an average finish of 11th place this season.

Doug Ludwig, 18, of Fayetteville finished seventh in the Legends Pro division in week eight and is now tied with Chris Dilbeck for second place in the points standings. With Pro division points leader Doug Stevens absent for the final week of competition, Ludwig and Dilbeck will battle this week for the Pro series championship.

Trey Maughan of Fayetteville earned a win in week eight (his third this season) in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division and is currently second in points, 24 behind leader Ryan Bowman. Maughan has earned a top-3 finish in seven out of eight races run this season.

Robert Mowery of Fayetteville finished 11th in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division in week eight and is eighth in points. Robert finished tenth in weeks one and three, his best finishes this season.

Bre Sharp, 12, of Fayetteville finished sixth in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division in week eight and remains seventh in points. Bre enjoyed a finish of fourth in week two, her best finish this season.

Thursday Thunder Racing will conclude this Thursday at 6 p.m. at Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thunder Ring, the quarter-mile track situated along the frontstretch. Papa John's Pizza Fan Appreciation Night, presented this week by Fox Sports South and Fox 5, will be packed with action, contests, giveaways, and intermission competition between Kevin Conway and Ernie Irvan.

Thursday Thunder tickets can be purchased the evening of the race at Gate 13 (located on the front of the property running parallel to Hwy 19/41).
