Ora Jean and Olen Gunnin have lived just outside Tyrone for a number of years; however, as past residents of East Point they have maintained their ties as have many Fayette Countians.

Olen, who lived in East Point for 75 years, is president of the East Point Historical Society. He and Ora Jean travel to East Point every week for meetings. Olen also holds the longevity record on the East Point City Council, having served 20 years.

In honor of East Point's 116th birthday, the Historical Society will display an old steam engine and caboose for the public to tour. The city grew during the past century as a result of being the eastern point of the Atlanta West Point Railroad.

The Gunnins are active members of Tyrone Christian Church and the Fayette County Republican Party, and are also involved in the Fraternal Benefits Organization and the Travelers Protective Association of America.

The engine and caboose will be on display Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1-4 p.m. For more information, contact the East Point Historical Society at 404-767-4656. The Society's address is 1685 Norman Berry Dr.
