Fayette drivers battle for points lead With two weeks left to go in the 2003 Thursday Thunder season, the points battle could not be more intense. The Fayette County drivers are right in the midst of the action. Alan Baker of Fayetteville did not compete in week eight but is expected to rejoin competition in the Pace Car Fuel Centers Outlaws division this week. Alan earned a season-best finish of third in week five and is currently sixth in points. He has an average season finish of fourth place. Jonathan Chandler, 13, of Fayetteville finished third in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division last week and remains third in points. Jonathan earned a season-best finish of second in week three and has an average finish of fifth place this season. He has earned six top-5 finishes this season. Matt Cox, 13, of Fayetteville finished 14th in the Legends Chargers division last week and remains 10th in points. Matt earned a season-best finish of fifth place in weeks five and six and has an average finish of 11th place. Michael Herrington, 34, of Tyrone did not compete last week, remaining 13th in the Semi-Pro points standings. Michael earned a best finish of seventh place in week four and has an average finish of 11th place this season. Doug Ludwig, 18, of Fayetteville finished seventh in the Legends Pro division last week and is now tied with Chris Dilbeck for second place in the points standings. Doug earned wins in weeks three and four. He has an average finish of third this season and has earned a top-5 finish in seven out of the eight races in which he has competed. Trey Maughan of Fayetteville earned a win last week his third this season in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division and is currently second in points. Having earned a top-3 finish in seven out of eight races run this season, Trey maintains an average finish of third place. Robert Mowery of Fayetteville finished 11th in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division last week and is eighth in points. Robert finished 10th in weeks one and three, his best finishes this season. He has an average finish of 12th place in his first season competing in the Thursday Thunder series. Bre Sharp, 12, of Fayetteville finished sixth in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division last week and remains seventh in points. Bre enjoyed a finish of fourth in week two, her best finish this season. Having earned two top-5 finishes this season, she has an average finish of eighth place. Racing resumes tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thunder Ring, the quarter-mile track situated along the frontstretch.
