How about those
left-laners who militantly block access?
I agree with nearly all that has been printed regarding the left-lane laggards, but one facet of the problem has been overlooked. What about the militant left-lane drivers who aggressively seek to block right-lane drivers from entering the left lane to prepare for an upcoming left turn? They are part of the reason why people stay in the left lane longer than they might ordinarily do so. You know who I'm talking about. These people, usually female, I'm sorry to say, looking stupefied and maybe even a little mercenary, bear down with all the accelerated force they can muster the minute a right-lane driver puts their left signal on. They refuse to look at you as they go by and apparently seem not to notice the fact that the entire right lane of traffic has now slowed to half the speed limit while this right-lane driver tries to get over to make a left turn.
