'Move over' drivers usually are speeders

Having just read your column on drivers in the left lane, I am reminded of those selfish souls who only want the traffic laws enforced for their benefits. It has been my observation over the years that those folks wanting others to move over are in fact violating a far more dangerous law and that is of speeding.

Many times I have been in the left lane when some moron comes speeding up behind me, glaring at me, even though I am passing a slower car in the right lane and I, myself, am doing the speed limit. I believe that "Slower Traffic Keep Right" law you spoke of is for cars doing "less than the speed limit. Not for those breaking the law by speeding.

So therefore, I call on Sheriff Johnson and all the other law enforcement officers to ignore your selfish plea and continue to stop the speeders first. One reason why I have continued to vote for Sheriff Johnson over the 20-plus years I have been in Fayette County is precisely because he uses common sense in dealing with the problems of this county and not listening to the fringe lawbreakers demanding law-abiding citizens be ticketed for driving responsibly.

If the slower driving folks are doing the speed limit, they are not breaking any law. If, however, you come upon one of those people, let me suggest you slow down and drive the speed limit. It will amaze you, I'm sure, at how more relaxing it is, not only by not worrying about someone else, but also you won't have to worry about one of Sheriff Johnson's fine patrolmen pulling you for speeding. Though if you are, I hope they nail you.

Let's use some common sense here. The roads are not your private race course, and you're not going to get wherever you're going any quicker by speeding. You may just prevent an accident and not harm either yourself or some innocent person. I am sick and tired of the "move over" crowd demanding the road only for themselves. You obey the speed limit, then I'll move over, if I am driving below the speed limit.
