Cattle Barons' Ball on the way
The Cattle Barons continue their drive to the Oct. 18 roundup, The Cattle Barons' Ball of Fayette County. The latest corporate sponsor is one of Fayette County's most benevolent contributors, Matsushita Communications Industrial Corporation, better known to Fayette County residents as Panasonic, a worldwide leader in development and production of industrial and consumer products. The Panasonic name, familiar to people around the world, comes home to Fayette County residents in a heartfelt gesture, a $5,000 contribution to the American Cancer Society, sponsor of the Cattle Barons' Ball. This generous charitable contribution is made real by the 1,200 employees at Panasonic on Ga. Highway 74 South in Peachtree City. Since 1988 this local facility has been developing ground breaking innovations such as the Panasonic DVD Entertainment System for luxury SUVs and the Digital Satellite Radio System for Sirius, technology that provides an unprecedented breadth of music and entertainment for subscribers coast to coast. These outstanding products equal a solid employment base and the ability to fund charity, the backbone of civic responsibility. It is these corporate sponsorships and ticket sales that crack the whip on this years inaugural fund raiser. Remarkably over 50 percent of these donations stay in Fayette County to support patients as they make their way through the cancer journey. Recently, contributions funded a local Hispanic outreach clinic. From this effort, four cases were detected in treatable stage that may otherwise has gone undetected. Timeliness is everything and the Cattle Barons' Ball makes it happen and local volunteers are promising a shindig of monumental proportions. You can help. The ball is a Wild West frontier hoedown with all the fixins. Put on your boots and hat and walk the Main street. Drop in on a hand of poker or try your luck at friendly game of dice. Trouble with your partner? Have him thrown in jail and get your own beer they're free down at the saloon. If your Levi's aren't too loose strap yourself on the mechanical bull or may perhaps the pig race is more to your liking. Sponsors can promote their companies by underwriting races, games, event or entire sections of the corral if your hats big enough. Sponsors' names are printed in the newspaper, the silent auction program, the live auction program, invitations and all over the town. This a life giving effort that serves all that choose to come on down.
