Local boxers compete in Georgia Games
Sebastian's Boxing entered nine boxers who competed in a two-day event at the Georgia Games last weekend in Doraville. Team captain Aaron Carver won a bronze medal in the middleweight division Saturday night, losing a hard-fought decision with Taurus Corbbrey from Savannah. Ben Dixon also won a bronze medal in the light-heavyweight division in a 3 round decision against Alance Corbbrey, Taurus' brother, from Savannah. Christopher Weiss brought home a gold medal Sunday in the 11/12 year old 130-lb. class. Baki Zymberi also brought home a gold in the super-heavyweight Class. Baki will now compete in the professional ranks Aug. 22 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, should a suitable opponent be found. Sharpsburg teammates Anthony (Ant) Lewandowski, Josh Rhodes and Quentin (Q) Walker brought home silver medals. Nathan Ellyson of Fayette and Evan Lewandowski of Sharpsburg were disappointed that matches could not be scheduled in their respective weight classes. "We are proud of the entire team," said head coach Scott Sebastian. "I feel we were very successful in our goals. This was our first competition, we will go back into the gym and fine tune some specific areas. "With support from Aassistant head coach Jim Weiss, my wife and assistant coach Melinda Sebastian, my sister and assistant coach Lisa Sebastian, we will continue to develop and educate our boxers. This is the beginning of a great team." The next scheduled competition for Sebastian's Boxing will be Aug. 23 at the Paul Murphy Memorial Gym in Doraville.
