Owner absent, dog
impounded
I've just read the Lopez's letter about the abandoned cats they've been caring for. Coincidentally, my 9-year-old is in tears right this minute, as the Fayette Animal Shelter just picked up a stray dog we've been caring for. I came across the dog while jogging in the Smokerise subdivision this week, along with some very nice folks living on Smokerise Trace who feared that the dog would be hit by a car (this is a whole other story, but people constantly speed up that road!). Having a fenced yard, I took the dog home and have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find its owner. Somehow, I don't think the owner is spending any amount of time looking for the dog! My last resort was calling Animal Control (a very nice shelter, from my experience). This is the second time we've taken an animal in while jogging (and please, readers, I don't need any letters telling me to stop jogging). Mr. and Ms. Lopez, we feel your pain, and admire your kindness and willingness to care for the cat family! Diane Avillo Peachtree City, GA.
