Judge's ride on elephant float: Attempt to deceive?

We celebrated our nation's birthday [July 4] and did it in a style that we citizens of Fayette County and Peachtree City have come to love and appreciate. The Peachtree City parade was very symbolic of our freedom to demonstrate our patriotism, and, yes, politicians. The politicians are OK, and we have come to expect them just as much as we have come to expect candy thrown from the floats. It was even special to have Governor "Sonny" pay us a visit.

What was not special, and just downright insulting, was seeing our newly appointed Superior Court Judge, Tommy Hankinson, in our parade with a float consisting of a giant elephant, a symbol of the Republican Party.

He has been a lifelong Democrat, a political supporter of former Governor Barnes, and his lame-duck appointee.

He comes up here to Fayette County from his home in Upson County and attempts to mislead us into believing he is a conservative Republican. One would expect a judge to be a little more intellectually honest.

Did he think that we wouldn't notice? Did he think that we were stupid?

Any politician that would say or do anything to get a vote, doesn't deserve a vote. Let's not forget this act of dishonesty come election day next year.
