Five-story movie screen in Peachtree City this weekend

Residents of Peachtree City and Fayette and Coweta counties will be enjoying a big screen movie in a completely new way this Saturday, July 19, when Star 94 brings its free "Under the Stars" outdoor summer movie series to Peachtree City.

The mega screen will be appearing in the baseball and soccer sports complex on Ga. Highway 74 south. After a few hours of picnics, live entertainers and various vendors, the skies darken and the new digitally mastered version of "ET: The Extra Terrestrial" will play across the huge screen.

Speakers will be set up at various locations throughout the park and viewers can also tune their radios to listen to the sound track broadcast on a closed frequency.Patrons are encouraged to bring their blankets and low back lawn chairs early for the best seating.

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with live entertainment for all ages, inflatable amusements and on-site fare available from The Varsity. Other vendors will be providing fresh popped popcorn, shaved ice, cold sodas, ice cream and a variety of other concession favorites.

The inflatable 50-foot screen was the brainchild of Bruce Piefke, founder of the Special Events Network in Atlanta. "Families are looking for affordable ways to spend quality time together and our Under the Stars with Star 94 outdoor movie program gives them this opportunity," he said. "It's also a great extension of how our parks can be utilized to bring communities together."

"Our 'Movies Under The Stars' event is an experience reminiscent of a drive-in movie and block party rolled into one," said Star 94 Vice President and General Manager Mark Kanov. "We had over 6,000 people last week at Tribble Mill Park in Gwinnett County and we are hoping that all of our loyal listeners in South Fulton, Fayette and Coweta counties will turn out to enjoy an evening of great family entertainment with us this Saturday in Peachtree City."
