Some local boxing talent will be on display this weekend in competition at the Georgia Games.

Scott Sebastian, who operates Sebastian's Boxing in Peachtree City, is taking eight of his fighters to Doraville Saturday and Sunday to compete in various weight classes.

Set to compete in the Senior Novice division are 22-year-old Ben Dixon, at 178 pounds, and 26-year-old Aaron Carver at 165 pounds.

In the Junior Olympic category are Nathan Ellison, age 16 (156 pounds); Evan Lewandowski, 13 (106); Anthony Lewandowski, 15 (147); Quentin Walker, 15 (126); Josh Rhodes, 13, (135); and Christopher Weiss, 11 (126).

Sebastian is also preparing to debut two professional fighters in the coming months. Baki Zymberry, former amateur national champion in his native Kosovo, is getting ready to spar against a top Georgia fighter and could go into the ring somewhere in metro Atlanta in mid-August, Sebastian said. The trainer compared Zymberry, who stands 5-foot-10 and weighs about 230 pounds, to Mike Tyson.

Also looking to debut as a pro fairly soon is welterweight Steven Fatah of Griffin. His first match will likely be in September, Sebastian said.

Currently running his "gym" out of his home, Sebastian said that he is working toward having an official training facility in the near future.

The Georgia State Games Commission was developed in 1989 as a method to promote grass roots amateur sports within the state of Georgia.

This year's competition, sponsored by Everlast, is scheduled to begin at the Doraville Arena with the weigh-ins Saturday at 8 a.m. The tournament is sanctioned by the Georgia Amateur Boxing Association, of USA Boxing. Only certified officials and coaches will be used for the tournament.

Medals will be presented to the champion and the runners-up in each weight class.

To get to the Doraville Arena, go north on Buford Highway to McElroy and turn right. Travel to Pleasant Valley and turn left. The arena is in Honeysuckle Park.
