The Wendell Coffee Golf Center in Tyrone is hosting the 2003 Summer Break Junior Golf Camps. Sessions will be held every week from June 2 through Aug. 14, and all camps run Monday through Thursday.From 8:30 to 11:30 is instruction, followed by lunch, then from 12:30 to 2:30 the juniors will play 9 holes of golf on the Par 3 course. The Fayette County Summer All-Star Basketball Camp, for boys and girls who have completed grades 2-8, is being held at the Fayette County High School gym. Session II is July 14-18. Cost is $140 per session. Camp hours are Mon.-Thurs. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fri. 8:30 a.m.-noon. The camp is directed by coaches Andre Flynn and Brent Jackson. The Tyrone Recreation Department is offering Pee-Wee Tennis classes at Shamrock Park each Monday in July. Sessions are from 9-10 a.m. beginning July 7 and running through July 28. Cost is $25. Call 770-487-4694 for more information.

An hour of yoga will be offered each week from July 9-Aug. 27 by the Tyrone Recreation Department. Classes are from 7-8 p.m. in the basement of the Tyrone Police Department. Cost is $80. To register, call 770-487-4694.

Summer baseball clinics are being conducted throughout the summer, sponsored by Hit & Run Batting Cages in Fayetteville. Sessions are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Thursday and cover hitting, pitching and catching. Cost is $89, with a $25 deposit due at signpu. Space is limited to 20 kids per week. The Fayette County Youth Soccer League is conducting registration for boys and girls fall outdoor recreational soccer July 12, 19 and 26 (Saturdays) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the McCurry Park North Soccer Complex. Practice will begin the week of Aug. 25 with games beginning Saturday, Sept. 6, and the season ending around Nov. 8. All new players will need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. Ages 4-18 may participate, with Aug. 1 serving as the age cutoff date. Registration costs are $65 for ages 4-5 (includes uniform shirt), $80 for ages 6-7, $90 for ages 8-15, and $100 for ages 16-18. The Peachtree City Hockey Association will be holding open registration for the fall season Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse. Play is open to ages 6-adult as of Dec. 31, 2003. Copy of birth certificate is required. Space is limited. Registration fee is $100. The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville announces registration for its Late Summer Adult Indoor Soccer Leagues kicking off Aug. 18. The season will consist of 7 regular season games plus a playoff for all teams. All games will be played on weekday evenings, and the registration fee is $65.00 per player. There will be leagues for Over 30 Men and Men's Open teams.

Fall Baseball Registration for Peachtree City Little League will be held at the Kedron Fieldhouse Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tuesday, July 29, from 7-9 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Parents need to bring an original birth certificate. Ages 6 and up.

Signups are now being taken for 16-, 17-, 18- and 19-year-olds for Big League Baseball in the south metro Atlanta counties, including Fayette, Coweta and Henry counties.

Players must be 16 years old by July 31, 2004, and can be no older than 19 on that same date. Teams formed will be traveling teams and will play in Fayette, Coweta and possibly other south metro counties. The 16-game schedule begins Sept. 7 and runs through the end of October.

Games will be doubleheaders on Sundays, with the potential for some Saturday games, at various locations in the metro area. Players must provide their own transportation to and from practices and games. Last fall the league registered 14 teams and expects a similar turnout again this fall.

Registrations will be accepted for both individuals and teams. Individuals signing up will be placed on teams with other players from the local high school or geographical area.

The Big League program just finished a successful spring, summer and All-Star season. Eight local area teams participated in the spring and summer programs and will send two All-Star teams to the Big League state tournament in Peachtree City July 16-17. One of the two teams will advance to the Southern Regional Tournament July 26-28 in Clearwater, Fla.
