Fayetteville heats up the summer with July Jam By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Every July Stonewall Village hosts a party for the community called July Jam. The event features fun activities for the whole family and two full days of free entertainment. July Jam returns this weekend and is bigger and better than ever. The party starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and lasts until 9 p.m. In addition to a plethora of rides, games and activities for the kids, including a Ferris Wheel, Round-Up, Granny Bug and Tempest, there will also be magic shows puppet shows, and local entertainers taking the stage throughout the day. There will also be a lot of crafts on display, as well as a rock climbing wall, a trackless train and the return of the "Giant Sandbox." Radio Disney will be on hand from noon-2 p.m.and will offer lots of contests and games for the kids. Saturday night, the Villages Amphitheater will open their gates for a free concert from Pieces of Eight. The orchestra pit will be open for dancing and the public is invited to bring their own chairs and blankets. Pieces of Eight plays a mixture of rhythm and blues, soul and beach music and is guaranteed to have the crowd singing and dancing along with them. Sunday's July Jam hours are a little shorter, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., but families can enjoy all the same rides and games and watch some different entertainers throughout the day. Admission is free but all proceeds raised will go towards funding the historical renovation and revitalization efforts within the Main Street District. For further information about July Jam or other Main Street activities, please call 770-461-6029.
