Does your faith set you free ... or bind you up?

Jesus would say, "If the son of man sets you free, you shall be free indeed." Jesus, more than any religious figure of his day, before, and since, encouraged his followers to embrace freedom as a joy of the faith. He wanted his followers to make decisions on their own, informed by God's will, but not bullied into God's will. There's a difference.

Tom Pilgrim appointed new senior pastor at Fayetteville First UMC

LaGrange native Tom Pilgrim, former pastor of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta, has been appointed the new senior pastor at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Pilgrim replaces Sam Matthews who was assigned to Marietta First United Methodist Church.

Hopewell UMC to host Abu-Akel in special 'Service for Peace' July 30

Hopewell United Methodist church in Tyrone will have a special "Service for Peace" Wednesday, July 30, with special guest speaker Dr. Fahed Abu-Akel of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta and Atlanta Ministry with International Students, Inc. Abu-Akel will speak to the congregation regarding relations between Christians and Muslims. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the service at 7:30.
