J. Griffin Brown


J. Griffin Brown, 49, Byron, Ga., died June 20, 2003. He was born Sept. 13, 1953 in Tallahassee, Fla. He was employed by HeavyQuip, Pearl, Miss. He coached several Peach County Recreation Department teams, and was a member of the Byron United Methodist Church. Services were at the Byron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sam Lamback officiating. interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery, Fort Valley. Survivors include his wife, Pam W. Brown. Byron; children, Griffin Crosson, Fort Worth,. Texas, Patty Farrell, Macon, Allie Brown, age 13, and Caleb Brown, age 10, both of Byron; parents, Johnny and Patricia Brown, Quincy, Fla.; sisters, Evelyn and Bill Craig, Crawfordsville, Fla., Cheryl and Marc Quinterro, White Springs, Fla., Sherri and Randy Cook, Sneads, Fla., and Terri and Connie Brown, Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren; parents-in-law, Marvin and Eloise Whatley, Peachtree City; and brother-in-law, Jeff and Ute Whatley, Peachtree City. Memorial donations may be made to the Byron United Methodist Church Youth Ministry, 103 West Heritage Blvd., Byron, GA 31008. Rook Funeral Home, Byron, was in charge.

Alva P. Vasselin


Alva P. Vasselin, 91, Fayetteville, died June 29, 2003. She was born Aug. 10, 1911 in Middlesex County, Mass. Memorial services were at the Carmichel-Hemperley Funeral Home with the Rev. Father David Epps officiating. Survivors include sons, Norman Vasselin, Mesa, Ariz., and Herbert Vasselin, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Sheryl Liptak, Fayetteville, Susan Dawson, Senoia, and Scott Vasselin, Mesa, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hilmer Peterson, Florida. Metro Crematory, Peachtree City, was in charge.

Bobbi Stephens Harrison


Bobbi Stephens Harrison, 41, Fayetteville, died July 2, 2003. She was born Feb. 9, 1962 in Los Angeles, Calif. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Barry Thompson officiating. Interment was at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, John Harrison; a son, Andrew Harrison, Fayetteville; a daughter, Jamie Harrison, Fayetteville; her mother, Christine Stephens, Lafayette, Ga.; sisters, Cindy Stephens, Decatur, and Dawn Cagle, LaFayette, Ga.; and grandmother, Faunae Pollock, Los Angeles, Calif. George Douglas Clark


George Douglas Clark, 85, Fairburn, Fayette County, died July 4, 2003. He was born Nov. 21, 1917 in Kinston, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Robinson Clark. Graveside services were at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Dale Weldon officiating. Survivors include a son, Henry Douglas Clark, Hilton Head, S. C.; daughters, Phyllis Cassedy, Fayetteville, and Gerry Lindeqvist, Rochester, N. Y.; grandchildren, Laura Lindeqvist, and Thomas Lindeqvist, both of Rochester, N. Y.; and a brother, William Hathan Clark Jr., Huntsville, ala. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291-2316. Carl J. Elsie Walker Smith


Elsie Walker Smith, 88, Riverdale, died July 6, 2003. She was born May 7, 1915 in Fayette County, the daughter of Francis Marion and Ermma Lilian Lee Parrott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee Walker. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Aman officiating. Interment was at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jan Walker, Newnan; a granddaughter, Carol Mueller, Valrico, Fla.; a step-grandson, Larry and Belinda Luck, Newnan; great-granddaughters, Laura Luck, and Lindsay Luck; and step-great-grandchildren, Blake Abercrombie, Seth Abercrombie, Kale Abercrombie, and Tori Abercrombie.
