Kittle wins third at Senoia this year In the 40-lap Allan Vigil Ford Pro Late Model feature, Ronny Kittle recorded his third win of the season at Senoia Speedway coming off an exciting win in the previous week's event. After recording the fastest time in qualifying, Kittle rolled a five on the dice, placing him in the fifth starting position; this moved Les Law to the pole position with Scotty Ellis joining him on the front row. When the green flag waved, Ellis jumped out in the lead with veteran and savvy driver Wayne Hansard applying considerable pressure for the top spot. Hansard dove low in the corners attempting to gain an advantage on Ellis and make the pass for the lead. However, Ellis, who resembles a college football defensive lineman, refused to allow Hansard to muscle his way by his machine and blasted out of the corners; and finally placed some distance between himself and Hansard. By lap 25, Rusty Clanton advanced into the second place position with Kittle advancing into the third place position. Clanton began to pressure Ellis for the lead, and on lap 37, Clanton was involved in a spin in turn one resulting in a caution. This moved Kittle into the second place position with Hansard in the third place position. When the green flag waved on the restart, Kittle slipped past Ellis to take over the lead as the field recorded lap 38 and held on to take the checked flag, Kittle was followed by Ellis, Hansard, Clanton, Law and Charlie Bagwell. In the Modified Mini Stock 25-lap feature, Sam Adams started the event from the pole with Dan Oxenford joining him on the front row. When the green flag waved, Mike Chambers established himself as the leader for the first part of the event, and Chambers clearly had a his machine in good order for the occasion. However, with 10 laps remaining, Chambers' experienced engine problems when a large blast of smoke emitted from his machine while exiting turn two and proceeding down the back straight-away. With chambers forced to withdraw from competition, Dan Oxenford, who had been in Chambers' review mirror during the entirety of the event, took over the lead position and went on to take the win. Dan Oxenford was followed by Adams, Chuck Oxenford, Mike Green and Chambers, who took fifth-place honors for his efforts. Cindy Anderson took the green flag from the pole position and led the Legends Pro/Masters event flag-to-flag to take top honors. This was Anderson's first win of the season in the Pro Division at Senoia Speedway. Anderson was followed by Tony Yawn, Jr., Scott Mosley, Jeff Arthur and Ted Studley. The Legends Semi Pro 20-lap feature proved to be the most hotly contested event of the evening. Doc Lee started the event from the pole position with Bubba Harry joining him on the front row. When the green flag waved, Lee jumped out to an early lead with multi-time winner Harry pressuring him for the position. On the second lap, Emily Cone joined in the battle for the lead by diving low going into turn three within inches of Lee's rear bumper; leaving Harry pushed up the speedway in the outside grove. Lee and Cone's machine made contact as they exited turn four while engaged in the heated battle which resulted in both machines spinning. This advanced Harry into the lead position, followed by Casey Tate, Adam Quattlebaum and Aaron Brooks. When racing resumed, Harry remained the race leader when on lap 18, Tate and Quattlebaum made contact on the back straight-away which resulted in both machines crashing into the inside retaining wall. Both drivers were uninjured in the incident, but their machines were damaged beyond repair and they were forced to withdraw from the event. This changed the running order to Harry, Lee, Cone and Brooks. The running order would remain the same the remaining laps with Harry taking the win. In the OPTECH 15-lap Bandolero feature, Jonathan Chandler took the win after starting the event from the pole position, Chandler was followed by Kyle Mitchell, Trey Maughan, Jody Pilkerton and Marcie Bristol. In the Modified Street Stock 20-lap feature, Larry Pierce took the checkered flag after starting the event from the pole position. Last weeks winner, Steven Barker, was forced to withdraw from the event after a crash into the outside wall following contact with another machine. Barker was uninjured in the incident. Pierce was followed across the line by Sammy Short, Steve Woodward, Jason Turner, and Barker took fifth place honors for his efforts. In the Sportsman 25-lap event, Rod Williford took to honors after starting the event from the pole position. Williford was followed by Andy Cash, Joe Deseno, Paul Benefield and Trey White. In the Aaron's Pro Challenge 20-lap feature, with a $225 Bounty on him, Terry Mathis lead the event from flag-to-flag to take yet another win. While several drivers have challenged Mathis for the top position in this division, Mathis has been flawless in his effort to win; and seems determined to collect the Bounty money for himself when the Bounty challenge expires in July. Next week the Bounty moves up to $250 dollars going to the driver who takes the win over Mathis.
