If you look out at Lake Peachtree today you may see the Peachtree Fire Department's new toy. Yamaha donated a FX140 Waverunner to the fire department on Wednesday afternoon.

The FX140 Waverunner replaces two older jet skis the fire department used for water rescue and training. Each year, Yamaha donates five vehicles to organizations. Recently, they have donated a Waverunner to the Rainbow House Children's Home in Coweta County and a vehicle to the YMCA Heritage Summer Camp as well as a golf cart to Kedron Elementary school for a PTO auction.

"We'll be using this for special activities such as the Fourth of July and the Sprint Triathlon in September," said Fire Chief Stony Lohr. "It will also be used for training and when we are called out." The Waverunner will also be loaned out to surrounding counties when the need arises.

Stu Horlak, Vice President and General Manager of Operations of Yamaha, heaped a lot of praise on the watercraft. "It is quiet, very stable and easy to maintain," said Horlak. "It can reach top speeds of around 55 miles per hour, can be used for towing and is fuel injected, so it starts right away." The FX140 Waverunner can hold three adults and will be put to good use in the community.
