St. Andrew's Larisey pursuing doctor of ministry degree at Tennessee retreat Father Frank Larisey, associate pastor at St. Andrew's in-the-Pines Episcopal Church in Peachtree City, is continuing studies for a doctor of ministry degree during a retreat at the University of the South, School of Theology, in Sewanee, Tenn., through July 10. The retreat includes intensive study, lectures and discussion, followed by home study, research and preparing a dissertation. The degree is a professional one and requires 36 semester hours of credit. The complete course takes four years. Larisey began in 1998 and has completed three of the required four years. "A minister must practice for five years and complete preparatory reading and study," Larisey said. "Through this study, I hope to grow in Christ, learn how to be a better minister, and give more as a pastor in the community." A Charleston, S.C. native, Larisey was graduated from the University of the South and Virginia Theological School in Alexandria, Va., where he earned his master of divinity degree. A certified hospital chaplain, he completed the clinical pastoral education program at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. He has served as pastor in several Episcopal churches in Tennessee and South Carolina, and also in College Park, Ga. He was called to serve at St. Andrew's in 2000 as associate rector, working with the rector, Father Dan Brigham.
