Fayette drivers in contention at AMS With three weeks of the 2003 Thursday Thunder season complete, the points chase is already heating up. Below is a brief look at how the Fayette County drivers are doing this year. Jonathan Chandler, 13, of Fayetteville finished second in the Moore Machinery Movers Young Guns division in week three of this season's Thursday Thunder, his best finish this season. Jonathan has jumped from sixth to third in the points standings. He has an average finish of fifth place this season. Matt Cox, 13, of Fayetteville finished 15th in the Legends Chargers division last week, his first week of competition in the Legends division. Matt is currently 21st in the points standings. Michael Herrington, 34, of Tyrone finished 12th in the Legends Semi-Pro division in week three of this season's Thursday Thunder, dropping him from ninth to tenth in the points standings. Michael has an average finish of tenth. Douglas Ludwig, 18, of Fayetteville earned a win in the Legends Pro division last week, jumping him from third to second in the points standings. He has an average finish of third this season. Robert Mowery of Fayetteville finished tenth in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division last week and is currently ninth in points. Robert has an average finish of tenth place in his first season competing in the Thursday Thunder series. Bre Sharp, 12, of Fayetteville finished fifth in the Moore Machinery Movers Bandolero Young Guns division last week, keeping her at fourth in the points standings. Bre enjoyed a finish of fourth in Week Two, her best finish this season. Racing resumes this Thursday at 6 p.m. at Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thunder Ring, the quarter-mile track situated along the frontstretch. Thursday Thunder tickets can be purchased the evening of the race at Gate 13 (located on the front of the property running parallel to Hwy 19/41).
