Why should innocent
teens be punished for cart violation?
I support our Mayor Steve Brown on this situation. The young people who drive golf carts and who have reached the age of 15 for the most part have grown up in the city, learned to roller-skate, bicycle, scooter, and drive golf carts with their parents' aid. They have earned the responsibility and privilege as their drivers permit gives them for a non-motorized battery-driven vehicle (as are 95 percent of golf carts in Peachtree City). I find it ironic that the cause of this rhubarb is an irresponsible, habitual drunk adult driver who abuses his privilege and suffers the consequence. He deserves his punishment, but why punish the innocent? Even our schools have adapted with McIntosh High School even making way for parking for golf carts. This is a way of life for all in Peachtree City and is part of what makes it one of the nicest places in our country. I had the privilege of living there for 15 years and I think it is imperative we stand up for the rights of the young people and responsible people of the community. Richard Thompson Covington, Ga.
