Why cater
to smokers?
There are 80 to 90 percent nonsmokers as opposed to 10 to 20 percent smokers. Restaurant owners and city/county officials, who are you catering to? You should pick the bigger percentage. Smokers should not have a small area, due to the harmful effects of secondhand smoke; they should have no area. Smokers can refrain from smoking for an hour or so. I know: Look at the nonsmoking international flights. This would protect the health of adults and children. Most of all, I feel sorry for the children of the smokers. Some parents have so little regard for their children that they force their own children to inhale their deadly smoke. I am for a complete ban on smoking in all public places, including outside public places. Ban smoking now! Joseph M. Coles Peachtree City, Ga.
