Paul Samuel Gardner Jr. of Sharpsburg, accused of killing a Fayetteville woman by "tapping" his brakes and causing her to lose control of her car, was granted a $60,000 bond Thursday by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Paschal A. English Jr.

English imposed special restrictions on Gardner's bond, forbidding him from driving any motor vehicle or committing any acts of family violence.

Assistant District Attorney Dan Hiatt opposed bond based on Gardner's driving history and testimony from Gardner's wife that accused him of domestic abuse. She also testified that Gardner used methamphetamine, an illegal drug, Hiatt said.

Gardner must also submit to random drug tests with results of those tests being forwarded to the district attorney's office, and he must maintain full-time employment, according to the order signed by English.

Gardner is accused of killing Kera Nicole Koon, 21, of Fayetteville, whose Chevy Blazer went out of control on Ga. Highway 54 between Huiet Road and Tyrone Road May 10. A passenger in Koon's vehicle survived and testified that he and Koon were afraid of Gardner's actions after he sped past them on the roadway and tried to block them from passing him, according to police.
