Southside Theatre Guild welcomes "The Foreigner" By JOHN
THOMPSON Residents looking to kick off their summer with a little comedy need to beat a path to Fairburn's Southside Theatre Guild this weekend. Opening Thursday is Larry Shue's, "The Foreigner," which captured several theater awards in New York when it ran off-Broadway. The story is set at a rustic, fishing lodge in rural Georgia. Frequent visitor, Froggy LeSeur, a British demolition expert on assignment in Georgia, has brought along his extremely shy friend, Charlie, for some respite. In response to Charlie's reluctance to socialize and his pathological fear of simple conversation, Froggy tells the others that Charlie neither speaks nor understands English. The fun begins here and ends in a crazy, twisted confrontation between good and evil. Southside's cast includes: Froggy LeSeur - Terry Hoffman Charlie Baker - Jonny May Betty Meeks - Marian Johnson Rev. David Marshall Lee - Michael Boylan Catherine Simms - Cammie Hall Owen Musser - Doug Searcy Ellard Simms - Kelly Davenport The show is directed by Julie Campbell. "The Foreigner is one of the late Larry Shue's great comedies and I have always wanted to direct it. It is a hilarious show and appropriate for all ages. It has been great to work with such a talented group of actors and crew," said Campbell. The show runs at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday through June 14. Tickets are $10 on Thursday and $10 for students and $12 for adults on Friday and Saturday. Phone 770-969-0956 or visit www.stgplays.com.
