More than 900 students will take their first steps toward adulthood this weekend as Coweta County holds graduation ceremonies at its three high schools.

Newnan High School held its ceremonies last night, but the two high schools in eastern Coweta County are staging theirs tonight and tomorrow.

More than 220 Northgate students are set to get their diplomas tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Henry Seldon Field.

Coweta County School System public Information Director Dean Jackson said if the rains continue, all graduation activities at Northgate and East Coweta will be moved indoors.

"If that happens, there's going to be a limited amount of tickets," he said.

The 364 graduates at East Coweta will have an early morning wake-up call, with graduation ceremonies set for 9 a.m. tomorrow at Garland Shoemake Stadium.

Students at the three high schools earned approximately $2.5 million in schlarships this year, Jackson said.
