Sandy Creek, Landmark, Newnan shine at boys track finals By MONROE

Local teams in three classifications fared well as last week's state boys track championships in Jefferson, as Landmark finished second in A, Sandy Creek came in fifth in AAAA and Newnan was fifth in AAAAA. Jenkins County won the A title with 69 points, with Landmark amassing 59. Top AAAA teams were Cedar Shoals (60), Griffin (59), Mays (43), Westlake (43) and Sandy Creek (32). In AAAAA, the order of finish was Wheeler (56), Stephenson (47), Lassiter (38), Walton (30) and Newnan (24). Here are the top individual and relay finishers from local schools.
Class A
400-meter dash: Sean Hill, Landmark, second (50.51); Evander Holyfield Jr., Landmark, third (50.69). 300-meter intermediate hurdles: Sean Hill, Landmark Christian, first (39.540); Quentin Jones, Our Lady Of Mercy, second (39.87). 3200-meter run: Blake Fertitta, Landmark, first (10:07.7). Pole vault: Joseph Register, Landmark, first (13'6"). 1600-meter run: Blake Fertitta, Landmark, first (4:35.885).
AAAA 100-meter dash: Eddie Rush, Sandy Creek, first (10.92); Will Judson, Sandy Creek, third (11.02). 4x100-meter relay: Sandy Creek, first (41.79). Pole vault: Danny Giglio, Sandy Creek, third (13'0").
AAAAA
400-meter dash: Demiko Goodman, Newnan, first (47.26). 200-meter dash: Demiko Goodman, Newnan, third (22.06). Pole vault: David Woods, Starr's Mill, fourth (13'0"). High jump: Seth Yetter, McIntosh, third (6'6"). Triple jump: Derrick Smith, Newnan, second (46'5.75").
