Landmark wins girls state track title

Landmark dominated the field at the recent Class A girls state track championships in Jefferson, with a whopping 162 points to 35 for second-place Jefferson.

All classifications competed at the meet, with McIntosh, East Coweta, Northgate, Starr's Mill, Fayette County, Sandy Creek and Our Lady of Mercy participating.

Here are the top individual and relay finishers from the area.

Class A

Long jump: Lindsey Vincent, Landmark, first (17'10").

4x400-meter relay: Landmark #1, first (4:02.182); Landmark #2, second (4:16.525).

4x100-meter relay: Landmark #1, first (49.640); Landmark #2, fifth (51.500).

100-meter dash: Lynette Fitts, Landmark, second (12.500); Sarah King, Landmark, fourth (12.770).

200-meter dash: Evette Holyfield, Landmark, first (26.102); Lynette Fitts, Landmark, third (26.589).

400-meter dash: Evette Holyfield, Landmark, first (58.800).

800-meter run: Kristina Eden, Landmark, fourth (2:29.700); Lenneia Batiste, Our Lady of Mercy, eighth (2:42.370).

1600-meter run: Kristina Eden, Landmark, second (5:33.810); Jessie Thames, Landmark, fourth (5:37.810).

3200-meter run: Jessie Thames, Landmark, second (11:59.030); Hope Hurst, Landmark, third, (12:12.810).

100-meter intermediate hurdles: Sierra Hill, Landmark, first (14.832); Leigh Burton, Our Lady of Mercy, second (16.388).

Triple jump: Evette Holyfield, Landmark, second (36'3").

300-meter low hurdles: Sierra Hill, Landmark, first, (45.555); Sarah King, Landmark, second (47.257).

High jump: Lynette Fitts, Landmark, seventh (4'10").

Pole vault: Sarah King, Landmark, first (9'6"); Heather Hayes, Landmark, second (8'0").

Discus: Simone Heath, Fayette County, seventh (107'7").

3200-meter run: Kristin Horton, Starr's Mill, eighth (11:49.630).

High jump: Elizabeth Hale, McIntosh, third (5'4").
