The City of Fairburn will soon be going to electronic ballot for the November election. City Councilmen approved Monday night a contract with Fulton County for electronic election services for an amount not to exceed more than $5,000.

According to Nancy Faulkner, City Clerk, the state is urging all cities and counties to go to electronic ballots for the November election.

"Fulton County has the equipment and trained personnel necessary to conduct an electronic election, and they are willing to provide this service to the City of Fairburn," she stated. She feels that this will assure a fast, accurate and professional election process for our residents.

Fulton County would require reimbursement for their estimated costs of $5,000.

In addition, city staff would continue to coordinate candidate registration and reporting, as well as conduct absentee voting at City Hall.

The U.S. Department of Justice would have to authorize the change in procedure before November 4, 2003.
