The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Fayetteville's First United Methodist Church Sunday, April 27, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Officials said the drive, which is held four times a year and will be at the church's gym this time, is very successful and about 100 pints are typically received.

There is a special need for donations of type O and type B blood, noted Cammie Barnes of the American Red Cross.

"We're still not up to a three-day supply," Barnes said Wednesday afternoon. Officials prefer to have a three-day supply on hand to meet the needs of local hospitals.

The church is located at 170 E. Lanier Ave.

Those interested in donating at a given time can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-GIVELIFE or via the Internet by visiting www.givelife.org.

The entire donation process takes approximately one hour, according to officials.
