High school sports briefs The Starr's Mill tennis teams defeated Fayette County Tuesday at Wood Creek, the boys winning 3-2 and the girls recording a 5-0 sweep. Fayette County's boys won #1 singles (Sri Mecka over John Esterline) and #2 singles (Ben Gore over Adam Esterline). For Starr's Mill, Eric Jackson defeated Tommy Webb in #3 singles, and doubles wins were achieved by Brian O'Keefe/Keith Kowal over Austin Bergstrom/Dan Boggs and Ben Matlaga/Phil Strickland over Jared Hall/Phillip Kim. In girls' play, singles winners were Jenny Shular over Kimberly O'Dell, Shayna Simmons over Shannon Belser, and Gabby Acuna over Sarah Richards. Lauren Dillon/Kristin Thornton defeated Kristin Webb/Mandie Nahter in doubles, and Kitty Ireland/Jenna McPherson won against Cassie Hood/Maddie Walker. The Starr's Mill boys are unbeaten going into next week's region playoffs at Lovejoy. The McIntosh boys golf team finished 29th out of 72 teams in the Vidalia High School Invitational over spring break. Teams from South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia competed. Out of 353 individual competitors, senior Chris Conrad came in 76th with scores of 76 and 79, while freshman Drew Atkinson finished 86th with scores of 77 and 79.
