Senoia moratorium to continue

Developers will have to wait at least another six months before they can start on any new subdivisions in Senoia.

The Senoia City Council unanimously approved extending its moratorium until the end of October. The moratorium was do to expire at the end of this month, but officials said they still needed more time for studies to be completed.

City administrator Murray McAfee also recommended that no new subdivision plans be accepted during the next six months also. The city is currently finishing water and sewer studies, and has embarked on trying to get an impact fee ordinance drafted.

"We're a lot closer on that," he said.

Currently, four subdivisions are underway in the city, and the city's leaders would like to have all their studies completed before the moratorium is lifted.

The city is also currently awaiting final approval for its sewer funding and hopes to get the word within the next two weeks.

Once the funding is approved, city leaders will be able to get a handle on the possible growth the sewer system can handle.
