Wednesday, April 9, 2003 Wetlands observation deck now open A wetlands observation deck, dedicated to the memory of the late Howard Morgan, a former Peachtree City mayor who was a member of the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, was built by the Rotary Club in conjunction with the Southern Conservation Trust. Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia President Chad Floyd and workers from his company represented the home builders association by providing skilled labor toward the deck construction, while some local Boy Scouts carried out Eagle projects by putting in the path, bridge and golf cart parking area at the entry to the site. Jerry Peterson, who said the area is one of six managed by the Southern Conservation Trust, said the location for the deck was chosen because of the wetlands and vegetation at that point. "There's a lot of golf cart traffic past that spot," he noted, adding that the deck can be reached from Crosstown Court, which runs off Crosstown Drive, and by parking in Braelinn Shopping Center and using the pedestrian tunnel under Crosstown Drive. The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether, Heard, Pike, Upson, and Lamar counties.
