Wednesday, April 9, 2003 Habitat home underway in College Park The Metro South Association of Realtors and the Metro South Chapter of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association are working with Habitat for Humanity to build a Habitat House in College Park. The Realtors and builders, with more than 50 significant contributions, have donated money, supplies and labor for the project. Also contributing have been many affiliate members of the associations. The slab for the home was poured last week, framing took place last Saturday, and carpet installation is scheduled for next Monday. Total construction time will be approximately 10 days. Sandra McCrary with Re/Max Advantage, current president of the Realtors association, said that Jamie Upchurch, also with Re/Max Advantage, served as the organization's chairperson for the project. "Jamie has worked very hard to organize this project, which is the association1s American Home Week project for this year," she noted. American Home Week, sponsored by the National Association of Realtors, will officially be observed April 6-12 this year. Sharon Patterson of the Eagle's Landing Sales Center, state director and immediate past president of the Metro South Association of Realtors, explained that the Habitat House project also complements one of the primary goals, heightening the awareness of the need for affordable housing, of Cathy Whatley, current president of the National Association of Realtors. The Metro South Association of Realtors membership is composed principally of Realtors from companies located in Clayton, Henry and Butts counties. The Metro South Chapter of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association serves builders in Clayton, Henry and South Fulton counties.
