$40,000 needed by Samaritans by April

I am writing to you today on behalf of the Fayette Samaritans, who are in need of a new home. Fayette Samaritans are volunteers who work to provide emergency assistance for families or individuals needing food or one-time financial aid. They spend less than 2 percent of every dollar donated for administrative costs.

For many years the organization operated out of the Department of Family and Children Services building, but had to move in 2000 and are currently working out of temporary office space donated by Leslie Contracting, Inc. The Fayette Samaritans are in need of a permanent home!

Fayetteville Christian Church donated a parcel of land to be used for the new building. The land is located at the corner of Hickory and New Hope roads in Fayetteville. The Samaritans designed a 2,400-square-foot facility, and a local organization, Square Foot Ministry, volunteered to lead the building effort. This [construction] effort is scheduled to begin on April 26, 2003, and conclude on May 3, 2003. To learn more about the project, you can go to the Samaritans' page on the Square Foot Ministry website at www.squarefootministry.com/sfm_page13.htm.

Before the building effort can begin, Fayette Samaritans must have $90,000 in cash to cover all building costs. To date, the building fund totals almost $50,000. We must raise an additional $40,000 within the next five weeks to meet our funding obligation.

The land is available, the skill to build it is ready and willing, but we need your help to make this dream a reality! Please consider making a donation the Fayette Samaritans building fund. Send your check, made payable to "Fayette Samaritans Building Fund" [to 203 Jeff Davis Place, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214]. All donations are tax deductible.

If you have any questions about the organization, would like a tour of the current operation, to arrange for a speaker, or to sign up to work on the building effort, please contact me at 404-425-2008.
