FCHS golf team wins three early matches

The golf team at Fayette County High School is off to a good start, with wins against Eagle's Landing, Sandy Creek and Rockdale County.

In the Feb. 25 season opener at Eagle's Landing Country Club, the Tigers won 164-176 as Ian Cutting shot an even-par 36 to lead the way. Andrew Gray and Chris Crawford shot 42 apiece, while Ryan Fielden and Robby Jourdan each scored 43.

"It was a good opening day for our boys' team," said coach Tracy Hubbert. "Cutting's score was outstanding on a difficult course. He will be one of the top golfers in the region this year, and he's only a sophomore."

The Tigers then defeated against Sandy Creek at the Links. Top scorers were Cutting with 42 and Fielden with 43. In a win over Rockdale County at River's Edge, Cutting shot a 38 and Fielden carded a 42.
