Peachtree City's latest corps of volunteer firefighter trainees have passed muster after meeting the standards on a written and practical exam.

The nine volunteers are now fully certified to fight fires, said Assistant Fire Chief Ed Eiswerth. The group's journey began in October as they took a class taught locally by sergeant/paramedics Robert Harkins, Chris Campbell and Jeremy Carlisle.

The tests were administered by the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council.

Although the new volunteer class is fully certified, there are future plans to continue their training with "Firefighter II" classes.

"The training never stops," said Assistant Fire Chief Ed Eiswerth.
