Evan Barron wins FCFT Director's Award

Fayetteville resident Evan Barron was honored with the Fayett-Coweta Family Theatre, Inc. 2002 Directors' Award at the theatre's second annual Awards Banquet. The Directors' Award is given to someone who has exhibited professionalism, dedication and creative excellence in theatre arts during their association with FCFT. It is the highest honor FCFT bestows on performers.

Barron has been seen in countless FCFT productions including roles as Tom Sawyer in "Tom Sawyer," Augustus Gloop in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," Greedo in "The Enchantment of Beauty and the Beast" and many more. He is also a senior member of A Company of Friends Educational Productions, FCFT's professional troupe, and has been seen in "The Brementown musicians," "The Jungle Book," and "Charlotte's Web," among others.

"Evan has a rare ability to entrance an audience with his charismatic stage presence and astounding characterizations," said FCFT artistic director Tammy Barton. "He is one of the most talented young performers I have ever had the pleasure of directing."

In addition to his work with FCFT, Barron has worked with The Atlanta Lyric Theatre, Fayette Community Theatre, Southside Theatre Guild and several other respected arts organizations. he has done voice over work for Cartoon Network, appeared on television shows such as "Dawson's Creek" and "The Young Americans" and has appeared in the film "The Gift."

Barron is an eighth-grader at Whitewater Middle School and is an honor student who serves as a peer mediator. he was the only male seventh grader to be selected as part of the statewide Honors Chorus and is also a member of the Science Club, the Beta Clu and the Broadcasting Club.
