Local Ash Wednesday services set for tonight

Several churches in the Fayette, Coweta and South Fulton areas will have Ash Wednesday services tonight, March 5, beginning the Christian season of Lent prior to Easter. Those churches which have announced their services or activities include:

· Bethany United Methodist - Covered dish supper, 6:15 p.m.; service at 7 p.m. All other Wednesday night activities, except choir, cancelled.

· Christ Our Hope Lutheran - Services at noon and 7 p.m.

· Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran/St. Andrew's in-the-Pines Episcopal - Service at 7 p.m., includes imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.

· Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal - Service at 7:30 p.m., includes imposition of ashes, Holy Communion.

· Episcopal Church of the Nativity - Gregorian chant and incense, 7 a.m.; Children and Family Service, 5:30 p.m.; traditional service with music, 7:30 p.m. All services include the imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist.

· Fayetteville First United Methodist - Service at 7 p.m.

· Inman United Methodist - Supper, 5:15 p.m.; worship service, 7 p.m.

· National Heights Baptist - Communion service at 6:30 p.m.

· Providence United Methodist - Service from 6:30-7:05 p.m.

· St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Mission/Cokes Chapel United Methodist (Sharpsburg) - Joint service at 7 p.m, includes distribution of ashes.
