TDK Blvd. project moving forward with engineering plans

Preliminary work continued this week on the expansion of TDK Boulevard as leaders from Coweta and Fayette gathered to examine engineering reports.

Coweta County Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter said the meeting with Fayette County Commission chairman Greg Dunn went well, and both sides are looking over engineering documents and seeing what needs to be finished.

In fact, the Coweta County Commission voted this week to let the contract for grading of its portion of the road.

On the Fayette side of the creek, Hunter said, there are more challenges.

"There's a lot of rock that they have to deal with. Our side has pretty good terrain for grading," Hunter said.

Hunter is hoping to get some state aid in funding for the project, and said Coweta County has already ponied up $75,000 in engineering costs.

The Coweta County commissioner said there is no exact timeline for the project, but he would love to see it start as soon as possible.
