Christian author McDowell to speak at New Hope

Landmark Christian School invites all Atlanta-area parents, teachers, and youth workers to attend a free seminar by noted Christian author Josh McDowell, based on his new book, "Beyond Belief to Convictions."

McDowell who will speak at New Hope Baptist Church's north campus in Fayetteville Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. once considered himself an agnostic who believed that Christianity was worthless. Friends challenged him to study the claims of Christianity to see if he could disclaim them. As a result of that study, McDowell was converted to Christianity and has since devoted nearly four decades to telling a doubting world about Christ.

In 1990, McDowell began delivering his message in a popular weekly broadcast, called Josh McDowell Radio, that is now heard on about 400 stations throughout the United States. To date, he has written or co-written 77 books on topics ranging from Christian apologetics to common problems facing youth.

"Beyond Belief" is a global campaign aimed at casting the vision of moving our kids beyond belief to convictions.

"Only 9 percent of churched youth believe in absolute truth," said McDowell. "Young people may be willing to believe that Christianity offers a 'truth,' but they're not convinced it is the truth. It is not that our churched kids are rejecting Christianity as they know it; they have simply been influenced to redefine it according to their cultural setting. Seventy-two percent of USA teens said that the way that you can tell if something is morally or ethically right for you is by whether or not it works in your life."

The "Beyond Belief" seminar will offer an effective way to counter the cultural conditioning that has distorted our kids' belief systems. For directions to the free seminar, call Landmark at 770-306-0647.
