The Sams auditorium is the setting for the seventh annual Fayette Senior Services concert and this year's program featuring the Silver Eagles Band as the main act will also showcase two outstanding high school musical groups. The concert, which will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, will have special presentations by a high school jazz band and a male vocal quartet.

The Silver Eagles Band performs every other Friday at the Wyndham in Peachtree City and is a definite crowd pleaser. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Jordan, Arthur Jinks on bass, John Wheeler on keyboards and Fayette Coutny resident Vicky Saylor on drums.

"We are very ahppy to entertain at this year's Fayette Senior Concert," said Jordan. "It is very gratifying to be able to help raise money for seniors." Rather than have a pre determined set list, the group depends on audience responses and requests. Some of their most popular songs are "Mustang Sally," Margaritaville," and "Under the Boardwalk."

The Fayette County High School Jazz Band will bring us some of the big band classics that are sure to stir many memories. Members of the band are Nik Banchat, Derek Bankieris, Kenneth Beard, Sarah Bradley, John Brandes, Nathan Brandes, James Brannon, Billy Buchanan, Andrew Gray, George Harkness, Amanda Hearington, Robert Henley, Daniel Houghton, Erica Porter, Austin Richardson, Scott Vanclovic, and George Wiggins. They are a very talented group of young musicians and their performance will please listeners of all ages.

Adding spice to the program will be the Male Quartet of the Fayette County High School Select Chorus. The quartet, comprised of tenor one Reuben Bidez, tenor two Stephen Weitzel, baritone Sean Cox, and bass singer Jeremy Williams, will be singing their version of the Platter's number one hit "Only You" and two other numbers.

"While listening to this really fabulous group during a photo session, I enjoyed a muscial treat that brought back nostalgic memories. We were very fortunate to book the quartet with the busy schedule they have this time of year," said Wallace Kite, emcee for this year's Fayette Senior concert.

Shortly after the concert, the quartet will be leaving with the chorus for New York City where they will be performing at St. Patrick's Cathedral and other venues throughout the city. The chorus will be presenting their annual spring musical program next month and this years program will feature favorites heard on the radio.

"The proceeds from the concert are a vital part of the budget each year as we serve a growing number of seniors each year," said Andy Carden, Executive Director of Fayette Senior Services. "We really appreciate the FSS Board of Directors, community partners, and the concert committee that work so diligently to sponsor this event. The musicians and all the volunteers, especially the Metro Fayette Kiwanis, really go all out to make the concert an annual success."

Tickets for the concert are $5 in advance and $7 for adults and $3 for students at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Fayette Senior Services at 390 Lee St. in Fayetteville. Phone 770-461-0813 for additional information.
