The announcement of the summer concert series at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is one of the first indicators that the winter is near an end and spring is right around the corner. The first part of this year's lineup features a little something for everybody.

The summer concert series kicks off with Eddie Money on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19. Money is best known for the hits "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Take Me Home Tonight." On May 2 and 3, The Pointers come to town. The Pointers, better known as The Pointer Sisters, have had a number of hits including "I'm So Excited," "Jump," and "The Neutron Dance." The audience will still be dancing on May 16 and 17 when The Village People come to Peachtree City. The disco group that gave the world the songs "YMCA," "Macho Man," and "In The Navy," are sure to put everybody in good spirits.

For those who want a little more rock and roll, The Doobie Brothers will come to "The Fred" on May 30 and 31. Best known for the classic rock hit "China Grove," the Doobies also recorded the hits "Long Train Runnin," "Black Water" and "What a Fool Believes." Closing out the first part of the series will be Bobby Rydell. Famous from the early days of "American Bandstand," Rydell will perform a number of hit songs including "That Old Black Magic," "Volare," "Kissin' Time" and "Wild One."

"The level of entertainment keeps going up year after year," said Amphitheater Director Donna Romeo. "We have our sponsors, many of whom return each year, to thank for that." In addition to the summer concert series, there will also be a three concert jazz series starting in August with a Saturday night concert with Lou Rawls. The remaining two acts will be announced at the Eddie Money concert.

Series ticket holders will have the first opportunity to renew their tickets beginning this week. Renewal forms will be received in the mail and they may renew their tickets either by mail, telephone, fax or by coming by the Amphitheater's new offices at 201 McIntosh Trail, located right next to the path leading to the Amphitheater. The deadline for ticket renewal will be Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m.

Series tickets will go on sale to the public Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m. Tickets will be $130 for the five-concert package. Tickets for the annual Swingin' Medallions concert on July 3 are also currently on sale; tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. All tickets may be purchased at the new box office, by telephone, mail or fax. The Amphitheater telephone number is 770-631-0630; fax is 770-631-0430. There is a $3 handling fee per order.
