Brooks UMC youth return from ski slopes of Vail, Breckenridge, Colorado

Fourteen members of the youth group at Brooks United Methodist church recently returned from what was described as an "incredible spiritual ski trip" in Vail and Breckenridge, Colo. They were accompanied by Lisa Green, youth director at Brooks UMC.

Planning and fund raising began nearly two years ago and the theme of the trip was, "Awesome God." The group started each day with a devotional.

Skiing conditions were perfect, Green said, with a fresh 10 inches of new powder falling the night before their arrival. Many took ski lessons the next day but all were on their own by the following day some choosing to snowboard and some choosing to ski.

"By the last day," Green said, "they were hard to keep up with."

Green said as much fun as the skiing was, there was much more to the trip.

"Standing on a mountain top is a religious experience unto itself," she said. "It was a trip filled with many new experiences new sights, new skills, and a new perspective of the vast beauty of God's creation."
