Tyrone's Cannon writes from new home in Minn.

Hello, friends in Fayette County. I am writing to you from Minnesota, as my employer shut down Atlanta operations and gave us the option to relocate. While I was happy to keep my job, I do miss our friends in Georgia.

Some of y'all may recall that I lost my bid for reelection in Tyrone this past fall after Northwest Airlines transferred me up here. Fortunately, I can keep up with things by reading The Citizen online.

The Cannon family was thrilled to read that Terri Smith and Marion Key were elected the chair and vice chair of the Fayette County School Board. I once sought to serve on the school board and consider these choices to be important. Choosing leadership is always a tough job. Except for occasional periods of a little "hanky panky" and indiscretions, our school board has usually had the benefit of good leaders, including folks like Mickey Littlefield and John DeCotis.

It has been our privilege to know Terri Smith personally. She is a devoted mother, a loyal wife and a diligent school teacher. Fayette, you got a good one!
