Newnan Community Theatre Company presents classic black comedy "Arsenic and Old Lace" By MICHAEL
BOYLAN In a season that features some of the most famous plays in American history, including "Our Town," "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "Annie," Newnan Community Theatre Company will present one of America's most beloved comedies, "Arsenic and Old Lace" for three straight weekends starting this Friday. The story takes place in a boarding house run by two aging sisters, Abby and Martha, played by Brenda Tymecki and Terri Morrison. Though the house has had guests in the past, the two men who currently live there are their slightly insane bother Teddy, who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, and Mortimer, their theater critic nephew. What Mortimer, played by Bert Lyons, and Teddy, played by Mike Maloy, don't know is that many of the former guests have been poisoned and are buried in the basement. Everything comes to light one evening when Mortimer's brother, the evil Jonathan, played by John McKeeman, decides to hide out at the house with his accomplice Dr. Einstein, played by Jeff Allen. Add to this a mixture of police officers, a fiancee' and other guests and you get a timeless comedy that leaves audiences in stitches. "Arsenic and Old Lace" by Joseph Kesselring will be presented Friday and Saturdays Feb. 7-22. Admission is $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students.
