Tuesday night marked the beginning of the second half of the high school basketball season and the local boys and girls teams split in all of the games. Sandy Creek, McIntosh and East Coweta's girls won, as did Fayette County and Starr's Mill's boys.

Sandy Creek's Lady Patriots defeated Douglas County 62-48, thanks in part to Tracy Paschall's 17 points. The Sandy Creek boys team did not fare as well, falling to second ranked Douglas County 92-85. Kevin Craig led the Patriots in scoring with 21 points. The Patriots also got 15 points from Kerry Atkinson, 13 points from Aaron Caruthers and 12 from Charles Willis. Sandy Creek will travel to Northgate tonight and will host Fayette County on Saturday.

McIntosh's Lady Chiefs got a big win Tuesday when they upset Lovejoy 49-41. McIntosh hit clutch free throws down the stretch and closed out the game strong to capture their second win in three games. The Lady Chiefs were led in scoring by Lindsay Murphy, who finished with 23 points.

The McIntosh boys fell to Lovejoy 78-52. Sterling Brown finished with 15 for the Chiefs but it wasn't enough to push past the undefeated Lovejoy team. McIntosh will host Starr's Mill tonight.

East Coweta's Lady Indians defeated Starr's Mill 42-38. East Coweta was led in scoring by Megan Darrah, who finished with 19 points. Erica Harris scored 15 points for Starr's Mill and Ashley Marine added 11 points. The Starr's Mill boys defeated East Coweta 56-41, thanks in part to 15 points from Caleb Graham and 10 points a piece from Andy Drum, Mike Mock and Billy Jacobsen. East Coweta has a big weekend ahead of them. They will host Riverdale Friday and Lovejoy Saturday.

Fayette County's girls fell to Newnan, 46-37, while the Fayette County boys edged out Newnan 55-52. Fayette County travels to Sandy Creek Saturday night.
