Fayette Woman magazine has new ownership, positive outlook By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Fayette Woman magazine is under new ownership, ours. Fayette Publishing, Inc., which puts out The Citizen Newspapers, started publishing Fayette Woman in November of 2002. The magazine discusses people and issues that would be of interest to local women and is meant to provide a sense of community among Fayette women. "We want our readers to feel like they are sitting down with a cup of coffee and their friends when they read our magazine," said editor Jackie Morris. Fayette Woman features a cover story each month on a local woman or women that are making a difference in the community. Since November the magazine has profiled Sue Renfroe, assistant to the President of Panasonic; Asden Johnson and Eileen Patton, owners of a thrift shop that benefits the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence and the Fayette Youth Protection Homes; Phyllis Harris, an employee in the Juvenile Court System; Lisa Spivey of DFACS; and Melissa Thorsen, director of KidsPeace. January's issue profiles Georgia's new superintendent of schools, Kathy Cox. Aside fom the cover story each month, Fayette Woman also has columns about shopping, gardening, health, and life advice as well as articles on recipes, weekend getaways, and more. There is a calendar section that readers are encuraged to add to, an out and about in Fayette County photo page and wedding and engagement announcements. Fayette Woman is available at local doctor's offices, beauty shops and restaurants as well as at the local libraries.
