PTC mayor creates turmoil and should resign

I thought, according to all that has been written on this issue, that the mayor, Peachtree City Council, and the Development Authority had hammered out an agreement acceptable to both the city and the Development Authority. Now, out of left field, Mayor [Steve] Brown changes his stance once again, does not like the new Agreement, and calls for the resignation of all Development Authority members and Virgil Christian. What is going on?

Since Mayor Brown has been in office, our city leadership has managed to make every issue controversial and it seems our city is in a constant state of turmoil over one thing or another. Our mayor's "reign" has been marked by constant and continuing controversy. It is my perception, as well as others, that our city leadership is working on a personal agenda and not one in tune with the citizens of our great city. Even the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce has given Mayor Brown a failing grade and stated "how your conduct has adversely affected the business community in Fayette County."

Over the past year we have had longtime city staff employees quit, move to other positions or retire. Why is this? I feel it is because our current mayor is so bent on pressing a personal agenda and not working with people for what is good, or desired, for the Peachtree City.

I am tired of picking up the paper every week and reading about something controversial our mayor has brought to light. He seems to alienate every faction within our great community. I am one who says, Mayor Brown, you should resign. You have alienated the city staff, local businesses, city authorities and, most of all, a lot of citizens of Peachtree City.

Enough is enough. I am one citizen who will work hard in the next election to see that we get someone to sit in the mayor's seat who is more focused on working on serving our city's needs.
