Schumacher
was devoted servant
A tribute to Rich Schumacher: There are no remarks that could adequately describe the sense of loss that comes with knowing that Rich will no longer be with us. He was truly a champion among men. Rich was one of our finest planning commissioners because he cared about more than set-backs, retention ponds and zoning. He was sensitive to the welfare of the families in the subdivisions living near proposed new developments. He was concerned about new development causing our schools to be overcrowded. He demanded the best effort from the developer on every site plan because he loved the community. He brought a sense of humanity to the technical realm of city planning. His life was a God-centered procession down a path of selflessness and love. Rich purposefully touched the lives around him. He was part of a devoted band of men and women that treasured our community and fought to protect it when necessary. I cannot recall a single instance where Rich ever refused one of my calls for assistance on a matter pertaining to the welfare of Peachtree City. He was an extraordinary example to the young men of our community. We were all better off knowing him. I know that God was pleased with his existence on our planet. Good-bye to our good friend Rich. He will be looking for us in heaven when our day arrives. Much love and prayers to Kathy and family. Steve Brown Mayor, Peachtree City
