F'ville ignores
Northside decay, pushes Southside
Well, it looks as if the mayor and City Council will go ahead and approve changes to the [Fayetteville] Southside master plan, despite the concerns of their constituents and without addressing what will almost surely be increased traffic problems. Not only that, but the City Council has failed miserably in implementing positive change to the north side of town. The old Kmart building has been vacant for two years and the old Cub Foods has been vacant for nearly a year. Despite the obvious decay that is occurring on the north side of town, our City Council now wants to just annex and rezone to suit the needs of landowners who want to sell at a high profit and the builders who are anxious to build on that property. It seems like they could care less about the awful traffic problems that will arise. I suppose they think the problem will fix itself. Meanwhile, the Northside continues its decay. Watch your steps, Mr. Mayor and City Council the citizens of Fayetteville are watching your every move and are anxious to vote each and every one of you out of office. Matthew Washburn Fayetteville
