Basketball teams head into holiday break

Christmas break usually means presents and family and time off from school, but for local basketball teams it also means playing in some tournaments and gaining the gift of experience before the second part of the basketball season begins.

McIntosh High School faced Newnan on Tuesday night and both the boys and girls lost. The Lady Chiefs fell to the Lady Cougars 67-43 and the Chiefs lost 62-54. McIntosh will host Fayette County tonight with games beginning at 7 p.m. After Christmas the boys will play in a tournament in Callaway while the girls play in the Starr's Mill tournament.

Landmark Christian's boys and girls got wins over W.D. Mohammed Tuesday night. The boys won 63-51, while the Lady War Eagles won 79-33. The boys are playing in the Chick-fil-A tournament in Columbia, SC through Saturday and will play in the Chapel Hill tournament after Christmas, while the girls will play in the Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament in Camden, DE Dec. 27-31.

Starr's Mill's boys and girls will play in the Bear Brawl in Houston County. The Lady Panthers will face Warner Robins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, while the boys will take on Warner Robins at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Sandy Creek, will play at East Coweta tonight and the Indians will host Northgate tomorrow. East Coweta will also participate in the Starr's Mill tournament after the holiday. Our Lady of Mercy is currently playing in the Tattnall County Holiday Classic.
